Educator Profile

Hello,

My name is Yasantha Nileththi. I was born and raised in Sri Lanka. After graduating from university of Peradeniya I started my teaching career in one of the leading schools in Sri Lanka, teaChing social sciences and Geography from year 6-11 students. I grew to love watching the different behaviours of children and I loved using different teaching strategies to improve their development. We moved to Australia ( to Perth) in 2012. In Perth I worked as an Educator in Great Beginnings ( G8 GROUP COMPANY) for almost three years and I absolutely loved working with my babies in the baby room. It was like a second home to me.
We had to move to Melbourne in 2016 as my husband was offered a job in his field. I resigned from my job and moved to Melbourne with my husband and two boys. I was pretty lucky to contact Rebecca the CEO of the Happy campers just to check for a place in Happy campers for my little one. I told her that I would love to start a family day care. Starting a family day care was one of my dream. So Rebecca guided me to fulfill all the criterias needed and we were able to start my dream family day care in June.
I am very happy as I am able to work with kids again. I strongly believe that some of the most important skills to have when working with children is patience, flexibility and love.I feel that they allow you to be yourself and to get in touch with your inner child. That is what I feel everyday when I work with kids. I do love watching them grow through their own experiences and planned activities. In my day care I do plan a special activities daily which address and improve the gross and fine motor, cognitive and their sensory development as well. It might be a cooking experience, art and craft, imaginative play, reading experiene and etc. And I do strongly believe that the parents should be aware of the learning happen in the care setting. I maintain daily learning journey and every parent will receive it through their my notebook app, at the end of the day. And I maintain a folder for every child where their art and craft goes and their learning chronicles as well. I have a very good understanding of Early years learning framework and national quality standards.
Our educational Leader JO always guides us to explore new play ideas which I find very supportive. Children are always supported and they have numerous ways to learn through their play experiences.
I think I am lucky to be a Educator in Happy campers and parents of my day care belive so, too. SO you all are welcome to visit and join our family..BE A HAPPY CAMPER…. THEN YOU WILL ALWAYS BE A HAPPY PERSON TOO…
